The Full Catholic Prayer for Sleep Anxiety
Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
If your thoughts are racing tonight, if your heart feels heavy, and anxiety is stealing your peace, this night prayer is for you.
As you prepare to sleep, you may be feeling fear about tomorrow, worry about your family or finances, restlessness in your mind, a tightness in your chest you can’t explain, or exhaustion from carrying everything alone.
But tonight, you don’t have to fight this anxiety by yourself. God is with you in this very moment. His angels surround you. And together, we will ask Him to calm your mind and fill your heart with His peace.
Take a slow, deep breath. Breathe in His presence, and breathe out your fear.
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, Lord of all comfort and peace, I come before You tonight with an anxious heart.
You see every worry that weighs me down. You know every thought that keeps me awake. You know the silent fears that I never speak to anyone.
Nothing is hidden from You, and nothing is too heavy for Your loving hands.
Lord, my mind feels tired. My heart feels restless. Sometimes my anxiety feels stronger than me. But I believe that You are greater than every fear, every thought, and every storm inside of me.
Tonight, I surrender my anxiety to You. I lay before You my worries about tomorrow, my concerns about my future, my stress about money, work, or school, my fears about my health and the people I love.
Jesus, Prince of Peace, enter into my thoughts right now. Walk into every memory that hurts, every fear that shouts, every lie that tells me I am not safe.
Calm the storm in my mind. Speak Your words of peace over my heart: “Do not be afraid, I am with you.”
When my thoughts begin to race and I imagine the worst, remind me that You are still in control. When anxiety tells me I am alone, remind me that You will never leave me nor forsake me.
Holy Spirit, Consoler of the sorrowful, come and rest upon me now. Breathe gently over my nervous system. Slow down my racing thoughts. Relax my tense body. Let every muscle, every heartbeat, every breath come under Your calming presence.
Replace my anxiety with Your peace. Replace my panic with Your quiet strength. Replace my worries with deep trust in Your love.
Lord, I ask You to protect me from every spiritual attack that tries to disturb my sleep. In the Name of Jesus, I renounce every spirit of fear, every tormenting thought, every lie of the enemy.
Let Your Precious Blood, O Jesus, cover my mind, my heart, my dreams, and my room tonight.
Send Your holy angels to watch over me as I sleep. Let them stand guard at every door, every window, every corner of this place. Drive away every darkness, every anxiety, every attack of the evil one.
Mother Mary, Our Lady of Peace, wrap me in your mantle of protection. Hold me as a mother holds her anxious child. Pray for me, that my heart may rest in the Heart of Your Son, Jesus.
Saint Dymphna, patron saint of those with anxiety and mental distress, intercede for me tonight. Present my fears to the Lord, and obtain for me the grace of calm, clarity, and trust in God’s care.
Lord Jesus, You know every situation that worries me. You know the people I am afraid to lose, the problems I cannot solve, the future I cannot control.
Tonight, I choose to place them all into Your wounded yet glorious hands.
Jesus, I give You my family. Protect them, bless them, and keep them safe.
Jesus, I give You my work and my needs. Provide for me. Open doors according to Your will, and close the doors that would lead me away from You.
Jesus, I give You my health, my emotions, and my mind. Heal what is broken. Calm what is restless. Strengthen what is weak.
When I wake up in the middle of the night and anxiety tries to rise again, remind me to whisper from my heart: “Jesus, I trust in You. Jesus, I trust in You. Jesus, I trust in You.”
Let these words be my shield against fear. Let this trust be my light in the darkness.
Lord, we now hold on to Your Word.
Your Word says in Philippians 4:6–7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Your Word says in Psalm 4:8: “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for You alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
Your Word says in Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
We claim these promises tonight, Lord. Let Your peace guard our hearts. Let Your peace guard our minds. Let Your presence calm our anxiety and give us sweet, restoring sleep.
Heavenly Father, thank You for hearing this prayer. Thank You for the peace You are pouring into this heart right now.
We trust that Your angels are surrounding every person praying with us tonight.
Through the intercession of Our Lady of Peace, Saint Dymphna, and all the saints, we rest in Your mercy and love.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
